Dear Planning and Development Department Partners,

This has been an incredibly productive year for Planning and Development. Together, we have strengthened our culture of partnership and service, embraced innovation, and delivered meaningful improvements that benefit our customers and community. I am proud of the dedicated public servants who make this work possible and grateful to our development partners for their continued support.

Together, we are shaping a safe and well-designed city.

Our focus this year has been to listen to our customers, implement meaningful process improvements, and build a foundation for even greater efficiency and transparency in the future. This quarter’s newsletter is a celebration of those efforts and a look ahead at what our department is doing next to better serve our customers.

If you’re interested in contributing to our efforts, please read our 2025 Process Improvements Report, or join us for a listening session (details below) to share your thoughts with us.

Our Culture In Action

Partnership and service aren’t just goals that we’ve set. They define how we operate. This year, we expanded our engagement efforts by hosting multiple listening sessions, developer roundtables, and team showcases. These events introduced customers to our supervisors, opened new lines of communication, and encouraged a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Our partnerships with the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona (HBACA) and the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce led to solutions on water meter release timing, as-built review consistency, and the creation of a future lunch and learn series for the development community. This two-way communication ensures that we are solving the challenges that matter most to our customers.

We're building on that two-way communication by hosting listening sessions throughout October. We hope you'll join us to share your feedback:
