The City of Phoenix Planning and Development Department (PDD) is launching the third release of SHAPE PHX, replacing numerous highly customized legacy systems with a consolidated, transparent, and secure business application that leverages modern technology.
SHAPE PHX Release 1 went live in June 2022, providing the foundation of the application (payment modules, interfaces, and the enhanced customer portal) and support of residential plan review and inspections. SHAPE PHX Release 2 went live in September 2023 and added support for Planning & Zoning and Historic Preservation.
We are excited to announce the launch of SHAPE PHX Release 3 on Monday, April 13, 2026. Release 3 focuses on the commercial permit process, completing application functionality for PDD and enhancing the customer portal. The expanded SHAPE PHX customer portal provides 24/7 availability to:
- Submit applications.
- Check plan review status.
- Communicate efficiently with staff.
- Request meetings with staff.
- Upload documents.
- Request inspections.
- Pay fees online
