The Building Inspection Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily field operations of Building Inspector I, II, and III’s. This position provides leadership through direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring, while also conducting training and verifying inspection accuracy and documentation. The supervisor supports the Building Inspection Superintendent by contributing to policy development, facilitating consistent inspection practices, and evaluating performance outcomes. Responsibilities include interpreting and enforcing Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, and ADA codes; conducting minor plan reviews; assisting with complex inspections; preparing weekly statistical reports; and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve construction-related issues. The role also supports budget preparation, actively participates in Lean initiatives and operational improvements.
The ideal candidate will have multiple ICC certifications, exhibit a positive attitude, have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service, will have seven or more years of municipal government code administration and he/she will currently work as a building inspection supervisor/lead with at least 5 years' experience doing so.
