Building Inspector Series (I, II, and III)

The City of Tucson is accepting applications for the position of BUILDING INSPECTOR I, II, and III to fill multiple vacancies in the planning and Development Services Department. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.

J2553 - Building Inspector I (Compensation Grade 105, $21.96 - $32.94 USD Hourly)

The Building Inspector I position at the City of Tucson’s Planning and Development Services Department assists in conducting building inspections for construction, manufactured buildings, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment, and systems to ensure conformance to building codes, plans, and regulatory standards. This position assists in reviewing plans and completing building inspection reports in an online permitting system and participates in the Building Inspection Trainee Program.

J2554 - Building Inspector II (Compensation Grade 106, $24.16 - $36.24 USD Hourly)

The Building Inspector II position at the City of Tucson’s Planning and Development Services Department conducts residential building inspections for construction, manufactured buildings, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment, and systems to ensure conformance to building codes, plans, and regulatory standards. Reviews residential plans and completes building inspection reports in an online permitting system. This position participates in the Building Inspection Trainee Program.

J2555 - Building Inspector III (Compensation Grade 107, $26.57 - $39.86 USD Hourly)

The Building Inspector III position at the City of Tucson’s Planning and Development Services Department conducts residential and commercial building inspections for construction, manufactured buildings, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment, and systems to ensure conformance to building codes, plans, and regulatory standards. This position reviews residential and commercial plans and completes building inspection reports in an online permitting system. This position leads and instructs the daily operational work of Residential Building Inspection personnel.
